About Claire Ogden
A series of photographs of the reflections in Newlyn harbour in 2014 sparked a fascination with abstract images. Many of my subjects are found on Cornwall’s coast or in its fabulous gardens. These include details from plants, rocks, water, beaches, boats and harbours. I capture isolated reflections, textures, colours, light and patterns to create original abstract pieces where subject and scale are often uncertain. My work continues to evolve, sometimes incorporating photographic techniques such as intentional camera movement and multiple exposure.
I am entirely self taught. My work has been selected and exhibited at various venues in the south west of England over the last seven years. These include The Royal West of England Academy in Bristol, Penwith Gallery in St Ives, The Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society in Falmouth and Falmouth Art Gallery.
