This is one of two old oak trees in a field on the edge of Cheltenham that is popular with local people. On warm summer evenings teenagers gather under the trees, while on rainy days the trees provide shelter for dog walkers.

As well as its importance to the community, to me this tree represents the fight for survival. Someone set fire to the inside of the tree in the past; thankfully it survived, but the fire left a large blackened hole in the trunk.
