About Jon Benham
I am an amateur photographer, most inspired by beautiful scenes in nature. I particularly enjoy taking photographs of wildlife and landscapes, but living in a large city can be a challenge. I've recently become interested in flower and macro photography and have found having membership of Birmingham Botanical Gardens incredibly useful, as it's very nearby and there is usually something different and interesting to see every time I visit. I use Fujifilm mirrorless cameras as I love the film simulation colour profiles as well as the sharp sensor and great choice of lenses. I started with the X-T3 and X-T30 and now have the X-T4 and X-H2S. One of my photos 'Autumn Acer' was selected as a Finalist and displayed in the Birmingham Botanical Gardens 2023 exhibition, and used as the background image for the 2024 and 2025 competitions. Another of my photos 'Swirl Pool' was placed Third in the Highlights of Hidcote 2023 competition. Two of my photos shortlisted for the Captured at Kew 2023 competition were Highly Commended and Commended. In 2024 my photo of Pulsatilla at Birmingham Botanical Gardens was placed First in the Flora in Focus competition and another photo was a Finalist.
