I am a gardener and a strictly amateur photographer.  My wife and I have lived on eight acres in the mountains of North Georgia for over forty years.  My maternal grandparents were dairy farmers in middle Georgia, and were passionate about tending their vegetables and their irises and daylilies and I inherited that interest from them.  I only began serious garden and travel photography within the last fifteen years when digital photography made things so much easier and less technical.  I focus mainly on garden and travel photography and use FLICKR to organize my images and to share the beauty that we've been able to create in our own garden and also the beauty that we discover in our part of the world and wherever we are fortunate to travel.  I began entering IGPOTY in Year Three and have been amazed at the way that the competition is structured so that someone like me can hope to occasionally have a chance to have work published in the same pages with the world's many serious full time garden photographers.
