On my last visit to London I treated myself to an entire day at Kew Gardens, arriving as soon as the gates opened one Saturday morning in May and staying until dark. I took hundreds of photographs that day, but when I got home and looked at them this one stood out.

I was pleased with the compositional lines, the graceful form of the central tree, and with the way the colour of the lone visitor’s clothing matched that of the flowers in the foreground.
