The trees are native European larch - Larix decidua, in their gorgeous autumn colour at about 6000 feet up in October, with a backdrop of glaciers and snow peaks. It was cold and just starting to snow, with the shifting mist and light just illuminating these two trees enough to make a bold contrast from the snowy slopes beyond. I love the feeling that it gives of being in amongst the high mountains. I spent an hour or so looking for the best combination of viewpoint, background and main subject.
