Jay Taking Acorns
The Bountiful EarthImage details - Jay Taking Acorns
Description
Oak trees supply many species with food and the jay can take many hundreds of acorns to bury for food during winter. Many of these hidden acorns are forgotten by the jay and start to grow. The jay is a difficult bird to photograph and even more difficult to capture when taking acorns. I used a wooden bird table and placed a large oak branch full of acorns on top. I also placed peanuts and fat balls that were easily seen by my resident pair of jays. My hide was only three metres away in my garden.
