After spending months with this otter, I wanted to capture its environment, which included gardens along the river. The best ways to portray this was with a house and garden in the background of the shot. After studying its behaviour and routines, I found this spraint spot, which it used regularly and had the backdrop I wanted. After finding the spot and knowing its usual routine, I positioned myself in the correct place and waited for the otter to turn up. With no sudden movements the otter came closer and closer. It shows that any wildlife can be at the bottom of your garden, as long as there is the correct habitat. This is a wild otter, not baited.
