This photo was taken in a forest just south of Punta Arenas, in Chile, of this beautiful, endemic Magellanic woodpecker (Campephilus magellanicus). He shows off his beautiful plumage, as he takes a moment’s rest from pecking at a tree, to scout out his surroundings.
