Description
This classic scene was made famous by John Constable and his painting The Hay Wain. Pictured is Willy Lott’s House, in Flatford (on the River Stour), which today is owned by the National Trust. Lott lived from 1761-1849, and worked the local land as a tenant farmer. The area is regularly maintained to keep the appearance – it’s such a peaceful spot to sit for a time, and enjoy the pastoral view.
