Fire Flower
Wildflower landscapesImage details - Fire Flower
Description
I captured this field of Vellozia alutacea (Syn. Vellozia variabilis), known locally as Candombá, during astronomical twilight with the aid of a dedicated, astrophotography mirrorless camera (with modified infrared filter), LED lamp, and multiple exposures of both flora and cosmos.
This especially flammable plant is rare to see flowering in the wild, because its blooms last just a few days, and can take many years to flower again.
