Salt Buoy
Plants & PlanetImage details - Salt Buoy
Description
Lake Tyrell in Northern Victoria dries out in the searing summer temperatures, to leave a salt lake coloured pink – caused by single-celled algae. This salt-encrusted section of tumbleweed looks like a buoy, anchored on the lake. As our planet warms up rapidly, could this be a vision of the fate of our freshwater lakes?
