About Reed Hearne

I manipulate my photography to uncover something captivating hiding inside ordinary subjects. Often the result has little to do with the source captures. I never start with a preconceived vision or use A.I. I’m not a voice for my tribe, a social justice warrior or celebrating my individuality. I admire many artists who follow those paths, but my goal is other. My best work emerges when I disengage from my identity and connect to whatever it is that’s left over. My art is about questioning the way we interpret what we see. I want viewers to experience the expansive effect of dialing down their compulsion to label objects in their field of vision. When we permit ourselves to explore a wider range of abstract interpretations, fixed emotions and ideas tend to also become unstuck and evolve.
