About Ming de Nasty

My life as a photographer began in the 1980’s. Music led the way but the central theme of my work is and always has been people and portraiture.A lot of my early work was with local independent record labels creating record sleeves and publicity materials. Since then I have earned my living as a photographer blending my work as an artist developed though numerous commissions and exhibitions with extensive work in education and outreach. Exhibitions include: New Art Gallery Walsall. A Thousand Faces, Talking Pigeons, Boxer, Who Built the Gallery? Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Hair. Winterbourne House and Garden, Imaging Mushrooms. Audiences Central, Home Grown, City Lights. I have recently completed a photographic project called ‘Sufficient’ which was funded by The Arts Council. Over a year I explored back garden growers and producers of food in an urban environment. Creating a photographic portrait of urban farming and its diversity.
