About David Shaw

I live in Somerset in the South-West of England and am married with two young children. Although I'd always liked the idea of taking up photography, I first started taking proper photos in 2015, about 9 months before the birth of my first child (and after I had returned from living on the West Coast of North America - good logic, right?!) in an attempt to give up the fags, booze and rollerblading. Originally I focussed on birds, but a couple of years ago, as time became more of a precious commodity I switched to landscapes, as I thought I could be out while the kids were sleeping and still be a loving and present father (I can hear my wife scoffing from here!)These days I tend to focus more on woodlands.Taking photographs with a camera has given me an outlet for my creativity, allowed me to keep fit and active in my dotage, and gives me the space to process my thoughts and worries in a non-destructive way.  I've also experienced some pretty unforgettable moments and seen some awesome sights; once you've passed the shock of a 4am alarm, early mornings really are the best part of the day!Although I have no ambitions to become a 'LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHER', I want to keep taking photos, explore my local area more, and if the opportunity presents itself, maybe take a couple of photo trips abroad someday (are the Faroe Islands pushchair friendly?) If people look at my photos and get some enjoyment from them, that would be an added bonus.I've just discovered printing and will now use words such as 'tactile' while talking about paper. Don't get me started...
