The Garden That Came in From the Cold by Valerie Dennison
We lost our wonderful garden to the bitter freeze of December 2010 – January 2011. Very little survived the temperature of -12°C which lasted for a fortnight and never rose above freezing point. This story is about the complete demoralisation my husband and I suffered from the destruction of our garden. We subsequently neglected the garden for seven years, allowing it to take care of itself, which it did with ferocity. Then, tentatively, in the spring of 2017, we made an effort to start again.
