I'd risen at 4:30am to get where I needed to be and whilst I set up my tripod (roughly) 10 million midges fed in earnest upon my face, hands and wrists.

What lay ahead of me was beautiful enough to maintain my focus; I captured the sun peeking through this wonderfully shaped lone Crataegus (hawthorn), creating a floral filter.
