Once pomegranates had been chosen as my subject, I did extensive research in my local supermarkets and food shops. Admittedly I got quite a few curious looks from shop assistants as I was trying to match the colours of the fruit to the images on my iPad showing reproductions of some of my favourite paintings. Pomegranates from Spain were the closest match.
