Description
Pachypodium sp. (Madagascar palm), despite its common name is not a palm, but a shrubby succulent. This specimen is found in the rear walkway through the Glasshouses, and it tends to go unnoticed, as it is adjacent to the entrance of the Arid Lands House. The thorns and texture of its trunk appealed to me, especially as they were enhanced by the quality of the light on this occasion, which immediately captured my attention.
