This was my first visit to Kew Gardens and I remember coming down the stairs of the Princess of Wales Conservatory, seeing these giant circular leaves and being blown away by the scale and beauty of these amazing lilies.

They were much more impressive close up than they are in pictures. I sat and watched the light dancing on the leaves and when I decided to photograph them I went in close to capture the sunlight throbbing across the veins and their reflections shimmering on the water.
