This winter landscape in Hokkaidō shows a treasure trove of vivid shapes and textures set against the white, snowy background. I had wanted to visit this area for some time and when I got there, I was not disappointed with the incredible variety of features. I spent many happy hours there making compositions of the beautiful leafless tree coppices, and lone trees on the snowy hills.

I removed some unwanted elements from the landscape in post-processing, to give the image a more open composition.
