Spinifex littoreus grows in sand dunes and other coastal sandy habitats, playing a key role in controlling land erosion. This grass acts as efficient sand binders, stabilising the dunes and maintaining their topography, with little alteration especially during the windy seasons. It is high time that we start saving the relatively few remaining kilometres rich in dunes and their vegetation along the coasts.
