The grounds of Blenheim provide wonderful opportunities for experimenting with nature photography. Turning a corner along the water's edge during a lockdown-escaping walk with a camera, I saw this heron perched on a partly submerged fallen tree.

Isolated against the water, its position seemed to extend the limbs of the tree. Immediately appealing in itself, with its reflection and so much negative space, it provides a stark approach to framing and processing.
