Between Sparks of Water
Wildlife in the GardenImage details - Between Sparks of Water
Description
A digger wasp - Prionyx kirbii sleeps clinging to the stem of a dry and twisted reed. At the same time, fine ‘sparks’ of water from a nearby sprinkler sparkle in the background. This type of parasitic wasp uses its powerful jaws to cling to plants and stems at night.
I manually changed the colour temperature directly from the camera before taking the photo, with the intention of enhancing the red of the abdomen with the cool tones of the background.
