The Elan Valley contains dams, reservoirs and a 73-mile aqueduct, built over a century ago to supply desperately needed clean water to Birmingham, from the heart of Wales. Now they also they provide a beautiful open space to walk and cycle and enjoy nature.

Craig Goch Dam in this image is the highest upstream dam in the series, it is an elegant feat of engineering and now an integral part of the wild hills around.
