I love to take portraits of my potted water irises on the garden terrace, in the late evening light. With this Iris ensata (Japanese water iris), the dancing grace of the petals caught my eye. It almost seems as if the flower is about to take flight. The strong purple of the flower contrasted nicely with the background, without competing with the fine structures and veins of the petals.
