I took this image on a spring afternoon at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Most of the flowers I had been photographing were quite small, but my eye caught a small clump of fritillary plants which stood out, making a bold, architectural statement in the border. Striking in appearance and hardy by nature, they bring a sense of the exotic to a cold, spring day in Scotland!
