A symbolic still life in the style of the great vanitas paintings of the 17th century; in the foreground on the right, you can see the time that has run out symbolised by the watch, and the empty, tipped-over wine glass – the symbols of death.

The boat in the background I painted is already on its way. On the left I arranged earthly luxury items, which ultimately remain behind.
