The blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) is one of the most colourful birds which can be found in gardens in southern Canada and the USA. Intelligent and adaptable, it feeds on almost anything and is quick to take advantage of bird feeders. Even though these birds are well appreciated for their colourful plumage and confiding dispositions, they are amongst the noisiest of all birds, and are known for their aggression towards smaller birds visiting feeders.
