On one of the few frosty mornings last winter, I took the opportunity to go for a walk in Ebertpark, a public urban park in the city of Ludwigshafen that draws attention all year round with its fantastic naturalistic plantings. On this morning, the various grasses and seedheads of the perennials had woven themselves into a glittering carpet. With these cool colour shades, this contrasted well with the brown leaves of an oak tree and some distant topiaries of beech in the background, which glowed in the morning light.
