International Garden Photographer of the Year is the world's premier competition and exhibition specialising in garden, plant, flower and botanical photography.
International Garden Photographer of the Year is wholly owned and organised by Garden World Images Ltd.
It is run in association with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, United Kingdom. The main exhibition is held annually at Kew, with a rolling programme of touring exhibitions in the UK and all over the world. Exhibitions are linked to events such as workshops and lectures on garden photography.
The competition closes on October 31 every year. Winners are announced at the opening of the launch exhibition, the following February.
In addition, there are seasonal categories with results announced three times a year ('Photo Projects').
The competition is open to everyone, anywhere in the world. Images do not have to be taken in a specified year. There is no distinction drawn between professional and amateur photographers.
There are eleven main categories to enter and numerous special awards including Young Garden Photographer of the Year and a mobile only category, Gardens on the Go.
There is a fee for entering the competition which helps to cover the expense of administration. This fee is £12 for 4 single images, or £25 for a portfolio.
An illustrious limited edition hardback book of the exhibition is normally produced each year.
Feedback has always been important to us. To continue to offer this service and make it sustainable we will now be asking for a fee. Professional feedback is available to buy through our shop.
Main Competition: Please purchase your review before November 30 - feedback will be given the following February-May.
Photo Projects: Feedback will be given as soon as possible - the final deadline for delivery of all feedback will be October 31.
This is your space. Here you can see your entries, shopping history and account information. A complete profile is a great first step to get started on your journey into garden photography. After competitions close, remember to login regularly to check the status of your entry; you will also be alerted via e-mail, but checking the status in your dashboard is good practice as e-mails don't always make it through!
As well as updates on your entries, you will also be able to see your achievements of previous competition wins. We will be adding early competition wins in future updates.

For all main category entries, we recommend the following capture guidelines.
Capture guidelines: * Minimum - JPEG, quality: high, at 300 ppi (pixels per inch). As a guide an 8 Megapixel image captured should be fine for printing at A4 (2480 x 3508 pixels).
* Ideal - JPEG, quality: highest (maximum) Adobe RGB (1998) colour profile at 300 ppi (pixels per inch) the image needs to be 3508 x 4961 pixels (A3 size and above would enable us to make larger prints if desired).
If shortlisted, a larger file with more data is always preferred.
Please see the Gardens on the Go category for mobile entry guidelines.
Please upload all initial entries at 1920 x 1080 pixels at 72 ppi in sRGB colourspace.
Entries uploaded that are larger than this may get corrupted.
