To mark a major 2019 exhibition of IGPOTY being shown in Gosport for the first time, IGPOTY and Hampshire Cultural Trust have teamed up to offer a new free to enter special photographic competition. Use photography to celebrate the green spaces and biodiversity found in Gosport and the surrounding Gosport Peninsula extending to include the Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve across to Salterns Lake. Capture the beauty of your own private garden or your favourite local green spot such as Stoke Lake, Alver Valley Country Park or Walpole Park to reveal the peninsula’s outstanding flora and landscapes through photography. 

Use the existing IGPOTY categories for inspiration and as a good way to focus on different kinds of subject matter. 

Whether you are looking to get exposure as a photographer or to focus attention on a natural area in Gosport that you love, this special award aims to do both with two separate awards for young people and adults.

Raise awareness and celebrate the local environment, landscape, plants and green spaces, build your photography skills, get your images exhibited at Gosport Gallery.

Prizes

Provisional dates for the pop-up exhibition: May 31 - June 8 2019.

First prize:

Age 18+

Your image goes on show in a pop-up display in the Old Grammar School building, Gosport, beside IGPOTY in Gosport Gallery.

1 x prize copy of IGPOTY Book 11.

Signed individual certificate and a monetary prize of £100 supported by Hampshire Cultural Trust.

General rules:

• You may not submit watermarked images with your name or website visible on the photo. Please do not frame your images with borders.
• Entrants may submit a maximum of 4 images per single entry token and a maximum of 6 images per portfolio entry token.
• For free-to-enter competitions you should enter 1 image per token given, up to a maximum of 8 images (8 tokens).
• Entrants' images must be .jpg or .jpeg format and of high enough quality.
• We recommend all images are output to 1920px on their longest side at 72 ppi (ideally with an sRGB colour profile). Any larger than this and you are supplying images bigger than they will be seen or used by IGPOTY judges; your files will take longer to upload and/or download to judges and viewers’ screens.
• The absolute maximum for each image must not be more than 7MB in file size and no more than 3000px on their longest side.
• All entrants must be able to supply a high-res image (300 ppi) suitable for printing/exhibiting should the image be shortlisted. You may be asked for this when the time comes.

N.B.

• High-res source file/s need to be at least 3780 pixels (longest side) @ 300 ppi, ideally larger (and ideally with an Adobe RGB (1998) colour profile).

Only images taken in Gosport and its surrounding areas are eligible for entry.

If shortlisted, photographers are asked to provide their current age and DOB.
