About SUSAN KIRBY
I am a wildlife, nature photographer living in Orlando Florida. As a bird enthusiast, I started taking images of all the migratory birds that visit Florida each year. I then moved into floral photography. I still concentrate my images in those two arenas, birds and flowers. And, of course, I capture all the little critters, insects, and bugs that are found in the outdoors as well. I use natural light 95% of time and love experimenting with Lensbaby lens to get that soft dreamy bohek backgtounds. Photography to me is a never ending challenge to capture an image that can be transformed into a "painterly" image like viewing the impressionistic masters.
My photography is shown mainly in the Central Florida area. I am in many gallery shows each season in the surrounding counties of Osceola, Lake, and Orange Counties. For years I sold my work at "Artisans", a coop of 35 local artists. I just recently took a break from the coop. I have won many ribbons and awards for recognition. The most recent recognition is through Orange Audubon where my photograph of an Anhinga bird is the cover for the 2024-2025 Membership Program Guide.
