About Liz Jakimow

"Moody" or "evocative" are often words used to describe my photography. I tend to be drawn to the dark and mysterious. After my partner's death, I also started taking many photos that represented the cycles of life and death within nature. In my role as a communications officer for the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, I take a lot of photos of the wonderful Bible Gardens we have there, throughout different seasons. These photos tend to be more cheerful and bright. Whatever my intent, my photos often focus on the details to be found within nature.

Liz Jakimow is an Australian poet and photographer, living in Araluen, NSW, where she is inspired by the mountains ad nature that surrounds her. After losing a loved one, Liz's poems and poetry from the three-month initial grieving period came together in a book and exhibition titled "A journey with grief: exploring loss through photography and poetry." Liz's photos have appeared on monopoly boards and Lonely Planet guides. Liz also works as a communications officer at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, and her photos of the Bible Gardens there frequently appear in their publication, Engage.
