About Gayle Hallowell
I am an amateur photographer with a deep love for capturing the beauty and tranquility of gardens. For me, green and blue spaces are more than just backdrops—they are a sanctuary, offering peace, inspiration, and a constant source of wonder. My photography reflects the joy I find in noticing details that might otherwise be overlooked: the play of light through leaves, the rhythm of shapes in planting, and the fleeting moments when nature reveals its quiet poetry.Alongside traditional photography, I also enjoy experimenting with photomontage, combining images to create layered perspectives on the garden and the emotions it evokes. I work with both analogue and digital cameras, finding that each offers its own unique way of interpreting the mood, texture, and atmosphere of these spaces.Through my images, I hope to share not only the beauty of gardens but also the sense of calm and connection they bring to me personally. Garden photography is both a creative outlet and a way of honouring the spaces that sustain and restore me.
I am a scientist with a passion for the natural world, currently undertaking an MA in Photography at the University of Falmouth. My practice focuses on garden and landscape photography, using both analogue and digital processes alongside photomontage. Bringing together scientific observation and creative exploration, I aim to highlight the beauty and restorative qualities of green and blue spaces.
