Iris reticulata Showcase by Marlene Finlayson

In this portfolio, I wanted to showcase the captivating beauty and variety of Iris reticulata – one of the earliest flowers to appear in spring. Past and present, these flowers have been a symbol of hope, friendship, love and devotion, making them a meaningful gift for loved ones. Blue flowers represent hope and faith, yellow – devotion, pink – friendship, red – love and passion.

The flowers and leaves were photographed individually against a white background; they were cut-out and arranged as a composite in post-processing, my own textured background was then added. The background is a composite of several images with alteration to colour.

The images within this portfolio include the following cultivars of Iris reticulata; I: ‘Clairette’, II: ‘Painted Lady’, III: ‘Louise’, IV: ‘Rejoice’, V: ‘Katharine Hodgkin’, VI: ‘Alida’.
