According to a report released by the United Nations, as many as 1 million plant and animal species are on the verge of extinction in the near future, due to human influences on the natural world. To demonstrate the human impact on our environment, I attempt to deconstruct the classic beauty of botanical images, by manipulating the film during the development process. By allowing the developing solution to develop only portions of the negative and combining that with the use of decades old film, as a result, only a fragment of each plant is revealed on the final negative.

These images were created using a large-format camera and 4x5 sheet film, then scanned to computer. Specimens used include; Aeonium, Echeveria, Wisteria, Rosa, Camellia, and Agapanthus.
