It was the formidable 'Bess of Hardwick' who first created Hardwick in the 1500s. IGPOTY was supported by the Department for International Trade (DIT) to make this possible. Landscape park and woodland garden with miles of stunning coastal views Wander through Sheringham Park and you'll discover why it became the personal favourite of its designer, Humphry Repton. Visit the ever-popular annual IGPOTY outdoor exhibition to see stunning large format winning images in a glorious outdoor setting. Famous for its vast collection of Rhododendron and Azalea, the last owner, Tom Upcher held Rhododendron champagne parties in the '50s to show them off. Ladies would arrive in their fine gowns, some wearing Wellington boots to walk down the main carriageway, sipping champagne and admiring the colours. Today, you can climb to the top of the towers to experience breathtaking views of this beautiful landscape, the North Norfolk coast and maybe spot a steam train passing through. Spend a day here exploring 1,000 acres of varying habitat including woodland, parkland and clifftop. Look out for wildlife, 3 species of deer can be seen alongside a wide variety of birds and butterflies.... Read more

Winning images from the internationally acclaimed International Garden Photographer of the Year Competition (IGPOTY) will be taking centre stage at the world-class heritage gardens of Hestercombe this September. This year’s exhibition is set to take root in the old tennis courts near the orchards of the Grade 1 landscape and gardens, originally designed by artist Coplestone Warre Bampfylde in the 1750s. The exhibition will be displayed on the IGPOTY outdoor structure consisting of 12 panels. This will enable an exhibition of around 40 winning images from the competition’s 12th year; which will offer a rich and varied display for visitors. Hestercombe will be the only place during this period in Somerset that visitors will be able to see the exhibition. Included in the exhibition is the highly original Abstract Views category, pushing the genre and expanding perceptions of nature. It also produced the overall winning image by Jill Welham entitled ‘Fireworks’, which will be on display at Hestercombe. A varied selection of other award-winning images will be on display including some from The Beauty of Plants, Beautiful Gardens, Wildlife in the Garden and Trees, Woods & Forests categories.... IGPOTY returns once again to Germany to one of its beautiful castles - Schloss Dyck for an exhibition of select photographs from competition 12. The imposing moated castle Dyck is regarded as one of the most important cultural monuments on the Lower Rhine and has seen 1,000 years of history. Built on four islands in the 17th century, the castle complex lies at the heart of the spacious park. This park was created at the will of Prince Joseph zu Salm-Reifferscheidt-Dyck by the Scottish landscape gardener Thomas Blaikie in the style of the English landscape garden in the 19th century. As Centre for Garden Art and Landscape Design, Schloss Dyck today has much to offer to families and visitors interested in culture as well as garden lovers and experts. Apart from the historic park and gardens, the entire grounds of 70 ha showcase a wealth of new gardens reaching from modern landscape architecture over themed gardens and examples of home gardens and an adventure play area.... The IGPOTY tour continues on to historic Cannon Hall in Barnsley. This fine 17th century hall is surrounded by 70 acres of green parkland. From 1757 some of the best surveyors, landscapists and gardeners were hired to create a spectacular setting for the Hall, much of which remains today. In 2020 Cannon Hall will play host to the 13th annual IGPOTY exhibition content displayed on an all weather outdoor structure.
