Male and female banded demoiselles (Calopteryx splendens) resting on a reed and silhouetted at dawn. The photograph was taken near the water’s edge, where reeds grow. In the summer months, damselflies roost among the reeds overnight. From an early age, I have loved damselflies and dragonflies. I also love the simplicity and graphic nature of shooting silhouettes. This is a reserve I visit regularly in order to know where to find subjects. Many visits were required before I captured this shot.
