This lone cypress grows out in this lake, a good distance from shore. Spared from logging because it was small and stunted, it has continued to age into a unique shape. At certain times of the year, the Milky Way is visible and timed without a moon in the sky, it luckily all came together on this night. Loaded with alligators, this lake is quite eerie at night. Night photography has intrigued me, and this lake of trees has been a favourite spot. I decided to try and combine the two into a unique image, one that would not be easily replicated due to the special requirements. The lake was over six feet deep, a special tall tripod was necessary. Floating alongside in a boat, I was careful not to tap the tripod and triggered the camera with a wireless remote.
