Reculver is situated on the North Kent coast and aside from an extensive beach which is exposed at low tide revealing ripples in the sand and rock pools, it is also home to a 12th-century ruined church. I was leading a photography workshop at the time and as the afternoon drew on, we were treated to dramatic, stormy conditions that swept all around us. I noticed one of the participants taking a photograph of the scene and I was drawn by both the point of interest and scale that the photographer provided. I have visited this site countless times and know well when to visit in order to increase the opportunities of producing strong images.
