The light had been fantastic for most of the day. As we walked into the avenue I could see the sun beaming down and took some shots because of the effect. The colours on their own were amazing. I saw another photographer further down taking pictures and walking on so I sat and waited. He moved left away from the main path and straight into shot. As I already had the camera set from previous takes all I had to do was press the button. Gibside is a National Trust property formerly owned by the Bowes-Lyons. The avenue where the picture was taken runs through the main part of the estate. The whole area is mixed trees and open areas with buildings and ruins - an absolute pleasure for photographers all the year round.
