This reserve is an oasis in the middle of Guildford, within a stone’s throw of the A3 main road, a leisure centre, a hotel and a supermarket. You can forget all of that when wandering along the boardwalks among the sympathetically regenerated reserve. There are wood carvings, a hide and lots of benches beautifully decorated with species that can be found here. Guildford Borough Council have done themselves proud. In the meadow area, there is a mowing regime to encourage a wide range of flora and fauna and in the wetland area, invasive trees are removed to prevent it from drying out thus providing a habitat for a wide variety of plants, birds, insects and amphibians. The weather was a mix of sun and rain; always a good proposition for photography. I knew where the sun would set and made sure to be at my favourite, curving sweep of the boardwalk in time.
