Description

The pond in the Tropical Glasshouse was originally built in 1852 to house the monstrous Amazonian waterlily. This is the Victoria cruziana with leaves spanning up to three metres in diameter. I like the way this image captures both the delicate flower with its surface reflection, and the sinister looking spiny stems below the water.
