With 400 years history as a common, Magdalen Green is considered Dundee’s oldest park. However, with the introduction of the Jute Mills to the north of it, the common was transformed from agricultural space working with nature, to a leisure space – landscaped to fulfil the ideal nature of the picturesque, with the bandstand connecting industry with the aesthetic.
