A whole sub-genre of the 17th century Dutch still life paintings, depicted food preparation, often showing; copper pots, wooden spoons, and many vegetables that are familiar to us today. Here, in this original photographic composition, we see the bounty from a local farm; winter squash, cabbage, onion, artichokes, peas, garlic, and even fresh eggs. The traditional candlesticks and pewter pitcher, plus the large copper pot, situate the scene in its time period.
