My hope is that the viewer will be compelled to look again. The bold, striking colours have immediate impact, but on closer inspection one is able to appreciate the detail in the background foliage.

This image was made in several parts; the background leaf was dried in a microwave oven using a special flower press, it was then photographed on a lightbox to reveal the intricate detail. The second image of a branch of a beech tree and its enhanced colour, were added in post-processing.
