I had been working on a project of using wildflowers in still life compositions and this beautiful Lythrum salicaria (purple loosestrife) was growing in a neighbouring garden, that had been left to grow wild.

To complement the purples, I chose to add in the colour green, making the most of the seasonal produce available at our local farm shop, including pea pods and pea shoots. I used backlighting to enhance the subjects and added in some bounced light to brighten the rest of the scene.
