This mandala-inspired image is based on a single photograph of the foliage the Lysimachia (loosestrife) plant, from my garden. It is part of an ongoing series of mandalas, all based on single photographs from the natural world.

The process of making these images is never the same - yet always based on similar techniques, involving an initial crop to provide a ‘cell’, then a combination of flipping, mirroring and rotation, followed by layering and blending until, gradually an image of deepening symmetries and almost boundless, harmonious intricacy appears.
