This simple purple tulip was anything but simple. I turned off all the lights and with my handheld flashlight, chose to illuminate it from strategic angles to accentuate structure, dimension, and curvature. It was a challenge to predict the amount of time required to leave the shutter open and was very easy to blow out details by moving the light too slowly or holding it too close.
